FUE Method in Hair Transplantation

Hair transplantation via Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) is widely used due to its distinct advantages such as no scarring remaining at the neck region, fast recovery of the wound, the patient being able to return to its daily life quickly, and the capability to take and transplant more grafts in a single session.

Hair transplantation is the operation of transferring hair from the neck and top of the ears, where it is abundant, to the top and front of the head, where it is lacking; it can be performed via two techniques, FUT and FUE. FUE has replaced FUT as a result of the advantages of its technique. Today, we utilize only the FUE technique.

In FUE technique, hair is shaved; local anesthesia is applied on the region; and the hair follicles are removed with punch tips with diameters ranging from 0.5 to 0.8 mm depending on the hair thickness and transferred to micro canals opened in the hairless or scarcely-haired region.

Hair falls off within the first 3 weeks after the transplantation in such a way that the follicles remain inside. In fact, it is accurate to call this phenomenon hair fall-out. Follicles having waited for 90 days after the transplantation start to grow after this period. Since some hair grows each day, the process progresses naturally and smoothly. After approximately 8-10 months, all the hair will have grown (outage probability is 3% under ideal conditions).

Hair transplantation must be carried out in Hospitals and Surgical Medical Centers licensed by the Ministry of Health by Medical Doctors in branches authorized by the Ministry.

85% of the patients who have had hair transplantations are satisfied with the hair density obtained in a single session, a 2nd session is requirement for some patients.

Alternative hair fall-out treatments can be applied for hair thinning that does not require hair transplantation.
